Just like our National ...CPF is just an aspiration.
Just like our National Pledge.

Or affordable housing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7980823109190564557.post-32982943481438560342012-08-08T15:38:48.687+08:002012-08-08T15:38:48.687+08:00In the 1980s, the difference in pricing between a ...In the 1980s, the difference in pricing between a flat bought in the open market versus directly from HDB versus the was 150 to 200%more. What this means was that anyone who bought the flat direct from HDB was sure to make one or two hundred thousand on his flat when he sells it after staying for at least 5 years. You could use your CPF to generate cash! It was wonderful. The best part was that you could do this twice.

Some scholar must have seen this and decided that the money should be made by the government rather than the citizens. So, they came up with this brilliant idea to price flats bought directly from HDB at market price and then, give a discount to first timers. In this new situation, it is more difficult for HDB flat owners to profit from their flat considering that you need to take a much bigger loan (pay more interest) and have to return back to CPF with back interest.

Today with astronomical HDB prices even when you buy direct from them, means that there is practically no opportunity to take cash out from selling your HDB flat. This means that all your money goes back to CPF if you decide for whatever reason not to buy another property.

Then, by always changing the rules of CPF withdrawal during retirement, and keeping money in different accounts and raising the minimum sum and implementing CPF life, they get away with paying you very little at a later time.

Now, if you were to lend money to a gambler at 4% interest because he says that he can make 17% returns annually but when you ask for your money back, he keeps changing his story and ask for longer payment time etc, what would your conclusion be? I would think that the gambler actually loss money and is buying time. With each passing day, he is taking more and more risk to win back what he lost to repay me. Do you want your money back?

CPF has lost its purpose. The money in the CPF is mine, but the government treats it as if, it is theirs. CPF should be voluntary rather than compulsory.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7980823109190564557.post-39651529372968477442012-08-08T15:04:15.560+08:002012-08-08T15:04:15.560+08:00This is the PAP Foreign Sport Talent Scheme.
