Do Singaporeans deserve to be treated like Freaks?

Singapore's famous Catherine Lim posed MM Lee this question: ‘Sir, in the event of a serious threat of a freak election, would you do the unthinkable, that is, send in the army?’ [Link]

Just what on earth is a 'freak election'?

I know the men in white will freak out when they lose the election but are we so bloody brainwashed that an election not won by PAP becomes a freak election?

Would anyone consider Barack Obama a freak for having won the USA Presidential Election?

It's frigging freaky for Singaporeans to think that an election not won by PAP is a freak.

For what they have done, I think PAP deserves to lose an election every now and then. It is neither an aberration nor an anomaly. It'll wake them up from their hubris to become more earth-bound and human. Yes, it's about time to bring people down to earth from their high faluting arrogance . . . . .

On a more serious note, I'm still confused from the answer Catherine received on whether the army will ensure the longevity and perpetual power of PAP? It's either I'm too thick or the answer is meant to confound.

Maybe the Army will. That's why our Pledge of 'building a democratic society based on justice and equality' has become an Aspiration.

To think that an election not won by PAP is a freak election is so UNTHINKABLE!

  1. When I read it...I was left thinking, "hang on, he didn't answer the question did he?"

  2. I will point my M16 INWARD rather than OUTWARD @ Singaporeans in the event I'm activated to defend PAP due to freak election.

There will NOT be TianAnnMen Square in Singapore if I can help it.

  3. Agree with you Mr Fish.
Only a freak is perpetually thinking of underhand means to cling on to power even if it jeopardizes the country and its people.

Calling in the army will be a freak result for the old fart, because I am confident our decent and upright NS men will do the right thing with their guns. It will be interesting to see if the famiLee and their stooges are bullet-proof.

  4. By having PAP in power for so long is a frigging freak I say. Let's get our perspectives right shall we?

  5. Is there any difference to MM Lee threatening to call out the army in the event of a 'freak' election result (meaning PAP loses grip on power) & the Malaysian Minister waving a Kris in parliament?

  6. The kris was meant for himself but the army was meant to kill citizens?

  7. the generals may take such orders. a few senior officers may join in and be part of the party. would the soldiers join in when they have nothing to gain but to defend the interest of some politicians?

our soldiers can think and question what is right or wrong, i think.

  8. MM answered the question. Safeguards are there, the President will not endorse the new govt bcos he is selected by PAP in the first place! U dun bite the hand that feeds u...

  9. I don't think he will call in the army.

    Why?

Just look at all the freak results in the many previous GEs. Was the army called in?

He does not mean what he says lah! As simple as that.

  10. He does not mean what he says lah!

Losing 2 seats is not a freak result. The old fart is thinking about losing the mandate to rule lah! So the old fart has this freak idea of calling the army lah ! To hang on to power lah!

So actually the old fart making such comments was intentional, scare mongering as usual lah !
Except now he is enlightened by his generals that the majority of NS men are peasants who would like the chance to use him and the famiLee for target practice.
I bet you my last dollar on this lah!

  11. The old man is scare, very scare. That's is why he is inducing fear again. I wonder, what is the purpose of the Army? To protect the citizen or the ruling party?

Can our armed forces think logically? Or will they obey orders blindly? Time will tell when the papies loss the election, citing that's a freak election and activate the armed forces.

  12. There are only two ways of controlling a population and its either through fear or demoralisation. Since we have all been demoralised in the financial crisis, its time to bring out the fear so that we all step in line again.

No, losing 2 seats is not a freak result.

The freak is the winning of 80 seats!

    No army was called in.

So he does not mean what he says lah!
