I read Chua Lee Hoong's Sunday Times' front page piece on the death of Mdm Kwa Geok Choo, "In death, she leaves behind a void not only her husband, but also the entire nation, will feel." [
Link].
A little over the top, I thought. She makes it sounds like a 9.8 Richter scale earthquake has hit Sinkapoor.
The hundreds of comments written here [
Link] confirms my thought.
The extreme ways that bloggers and msm and MIW's [
Link] & [
Link] go about the death of Mdm Kwa simply show that one man's meat is another man's poison. Be it genuine admiration, servile flattery, hypocritical praise or abusive vitriol, each must have his/her personal reason (graciousness, love, support, fear, expectation, hatred, angst, vengeance, frustration, bitterness, etc.) to do so.
I thank the reader who commented on my previous blog, [

“The rich, the poor,
The powerful, the meek
The rulers, the ruled
The conquerors, the vanquished
Everyone must fall.
And who makes the final decisions about when their time is up? Not men himself.
But some forget that the richest man, the most powerful man, the greatest conqueror, their destiny is still decided by the unknown power called death”
To every life a little rain must fall.
Ultimately, we die.
RIP.

it shows sinkapore is very immature. Just like those music videos churned out by NTUC and MDA.
Can you imagine the intensity of the vitriol and flag waving when LKY goes?
Will we see bare chested men weeping and wailing? Will our building melt under the glare of vitriol?
The average sporean maybe too busy trying to find a place to sit in the MRT trains to care.
Ceremonial Gun carriage for Mrs Lee - approved by Governement (ie Cabinet?)
They should - she was probably the scriptwriter for MM Lee who robustly debated on why their son and colleagues deserves a million dollar pay. Payback time.
Better than Ong Teng Cheong who gave the cabinet a hard time.
in truth, the so called mentor to the PM and 80 PAP stooges was all along being mentored himself.
in the words of MM Lee, he said something about not prejudging him until the lid of his coffin is closed, because he might still do something foolish.....like what ?
to himself is ok by me !
When I visited the comments section on Yahoo website about the death of Mdm Kwa, I never knew that they were also censoring so many comments, such that only those that resort to wholesale apple-polishing were allowed.
If they believe that such censoring will change people's perception just by denying them from reading those deleted comments, I think it will do the exact opposite. The number of deleted comments were much more than those allowed, which anyone of average intelligence can deduce that there are far more vitriol than compassion.
The days of feeding Singaporeans with what they should know and what they ought not to know is over. It is not the sole domain of the MSM.
News that have been suppressed will circulate in cyberspace, read by people, commented upon, repeated on blogs and further discussed and passed on through word of mouth. This is not the old days, where news is discussed over a cup of coffee among old friends and ends there.
May the regime exists and expires with Lee Kuan Yew.
Long live Mr Lee!

I thot the Minister of Health one abt "the whole planet will be heaven if everyone was like her" really OTT. Also read Gopalan Nair's which was truly nasty - not just to her but to all Singaporeans , and emigrants..Lots of emigrants still have Singapore in their hearts but may have left for better quality of life, opportunity for their kids etc. But I take it that GN was just bitter abt his imprisonment. The problem is that what he wrote can be used to turn people away from the opposition; which is counter productive to what Temasek Review is trying to do..I find TOC more "reasoned" than TR..and hope the latter realise that badmouthing Mrs LKY is not a very smart thing to do..
Anyway thanks for your posts and just read some older ones...u make some v good observations !
Hahaha
Looks like our Minister for Health is suffering the effects of his surgery.
