The Sin Of CPF

I am sick. I'm very sick of the continual submission, gratitude and fear that PAP expect of us, the poor commoners of Singapore.

I just read about the sinful extortion of $3.14 on the poor sick by CPF here. [Link] Being an old fogey with a heart condition who visits Polyclinic regularly to stay alive, I too am a victim of such humiliation and financial loss. When I asked the the Polyclinic staff why I'm being penalised, she told me that it's CPF, not MOH, that gets to keep the admin/processing fee. Whoever gets to keep the $3.14 does not matter.

Imagine: I have been beaten up with parangs by CPF and/or MOH. They have chopped off my legs and left me incapacitated. (Make me pay CPF and Medisave). With no legs, I cannot walk. (I withdraw the $100 from Medisave to pay for my Polyclinic charges)  CPF/MOH then forces me to rent crutches from them so that I can walk (Pay admin/process fee of $3.14). Yes, I may sound like a Drama Grandpa, but baby, the truth hurts!

When I started worked in the 60's, I was told that I had to surrender 25% of my hard earned salary to CPF. Likewise, my boss bitched that he had to part with the same 25% too. However, we were comforted in knowing (then, not now!) that I'd be receiving and enjoying a lump sum in saving when I retire at age 55.

Fat Hope!

From the 1960's till now, the leeching CPF has changed the goalpost so many times that most Singaporeans (apart from Lim Swee Say [Link]) do not know where their CPF saving is going to. It used to be 'getting it all when you retire at 55' but now we are fooked by the following scamming schemes (or is it scheming scams? ):

  1. Ordinary Account:
  2. Special Account: (You Can't Touch This Till They Say You Can!)
  3. Medisave Account: (You Can't Touch This Till They Say You Can!)
  4. Retirement Account: (You Can't Touch This Till They Say You Can!)
  5. Minimum Sum:  $131,000 (1 Jul 2011)  (You Can't Touch This Till They Say You Can!)
  6. Medisave Required Amount: $32,000 (1 Jan 2012) [Link]  (You Can't Touch This Till They Say You Can!) When can, you fooking pay them a processing fee of $3.14!
We are such peaceful blokes that we do not question the actions but it is kind of jarring to note that decision makers in CPF simply suka suka decide the amount and time when we can enjoy what is due to us. It is only when we read in msm (usually in December) that we know that we've been fooked! Just who the fook are these decision makers anyway?

They tax you through your income, GST, ERP, levies on maids and what-have-you! They belly ache and make a song and dance of their ministerial salary "sacrifice" [Link]. Isn't that enough? Why the need to tax on the sick?

I may be wrong but this #$3.14 Medisave Outpatient Treatment Processing/Admin Fee can be a scam to discourage us from using CPF Medisave, hence prevent us from depleting lee funds that lee investors in Temasek and GIC can play with.  Possible?

If Health Minister Gan or any of his cronies is reading this, please be kind. $3.14 may be chicken shit to you but it means much to others! I hope you can hear the people sing. [Link]

Looking back, it was this CPF "unreasonableness" and the contemptible character of Ng Eng Hen  *[Link] in 2007 that got me started in blogging. Time flies!

UPDATE:
# If CPF Board is operating like bank or credit cards companies to maximise its profits, just who is benefiting from it?  Below extracted from Health Promotion Board [Link]
Q22.Will I have to pay a fee for using Medisave for my treatments under the Chronic Disease Management Programme?
Ans: You may be charged a fee for the processing of each Medisave transaction by the CPF Board. As with all billing, credit card or banking transactions, it costs money to process each Medisave transaction. This fee is levied on all institutions, which may choose to absorb them as part of their running costs. If they are charged to patients, CPF Board requires that it be itemised clearly in the bill. This processing fee has to be paid in cash and is not deductible from Medisave. For more information, please check with your clinic.

* For the benefit of non-soccer fans, the last para of [Link],"My problems may have been less if the returns in my CPF had been on par or better than Malaysia’s EPF. Maybe part of the interest that could have been mine has ended up in the purchase of Manchester City Football Club. Am I a co-owner now?" please note that Temasek Holdings lost much in ShinCorp and this was followed by then Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra buying Manchester City Football Club.

I have said it before and I am going to keep on saying this.At age 55,and I am now in my late sixties, the PAP govt had been repaying my lump lsum loan to CPF in drips and draps and the sum of money is hardly enough to sustain a decent livingOn the basis of $300.00 pm or $10.00 per day, which the PAP govt is repaying me (and not forgetting escalating costs of living and no subsidies),I find myself living in Somalia or Ethiopia where the daily wage is $1.00 per day.
Yes the country's infrastrutures are good .What good it is to me when I don't have the economic freedom to enjoy it.
The PAP had denied me the dignity and ripped off the self-esteem in me and I am bent not to give them the dignity, repect they thought they deserved.

Imagine, you have a 40s as an Ambassdor to China. What a "fook" does he knows.

Recently, a counter staff at Tampines Polyclinic insisted that me produces my NRIC for identification when I offered my Driving Licence. She told me that otherwise I will be charged Permanent Resident Rate, it happened too earlier when me registered my elder sister for admission at Changi Hospital. WHAT THE FISH IS ALL THESE CRAPS. Are our names and citizenship status not linked with our NRIC Numbers and with the Registry Of Birth???

Our Ministries are making living very very difficult for us citizens, why do they treat us in such sadistic manners is way way beyond my comprehension.

As one born before Independence, dare I say that our Present Rulers are way too incompetent compared to the olden days when maternity staff were sent to each and every home that had registered their pregnancies at MATERNITY CLINICS THAT WERE BUILT IN ALMOST EVERY DISTRICT, INCLUDING OUTLYING ISLETS SUCH AS BRANI, UBIN, TEKONG ETC.

What a far cry it is today from the past! It so fooking disappointing with MONEYED FACE RULERS!!!

When we have money with our bank and make a withdrawal at ATM or thru Internet Banking, there is no charge by the bank. But not so with withdrawal of also our own money in CPF for payment of polyclinic charges. Not only that, $3 charge for a withdrawl of, say, $50 works out to an exhorbitant 6%. And they do that in the name of helpng the sick.

"scamming schemes (or is it scheming scams? " .... these scams come from the brainwave of the brilliant superscholars hiding in the ministeries & the ministers ; thats why u need to pay them millions !Ordindary civil servants can't think of such scams

A fee can only be levied if a person joins the scheme voluntarily .But CPF is a compulsory scheme n the govt dictates what u can do with your own money. There is no justification for this fee.The CPF can bear the administrave expenses; It has made lots of profit every year after paying the paltry interest on savings. How much is in the CPF reserve that rightfully belong to CPF members ?How much have they collected all these years from this fee?

U mentioned the Medisave outpatient treatment processing/admin fee is #$3.14. I was told last month that for treatment at hospital, CPFBoard now charge a $30 processing/admin fee for Medisave usage and this fee can only b paid in cash. Looks like the CPFBoard fee for hospital treatment is even more cut throat. Mind u, this fee is imposed on top of the restrictions on eligibility and cap limit If it is not a scam, then what is. The poor are not spared by PAP bloodsuckers. Even the sick are also not spared.

@Patriot - I am in complete agreement with your views! Those early days when MIWs were establishing themselves and coming up, they really took care of the citizens. Now they behaved like they were the lords over us citizens. They got so much money built up in reserves and yet not enough. They set so many GICs and virtually control the domestic economy with directorships for all their cronies. Money is evil. With so much money, they become more greedy!

When we citizens go hospital they do worried we can't pay. Keep asking how we going to pay. Keep talking about money all the time to you instead of concern about your medical situation. Must pay deposit 1st before ops. Never see a govt so money faced!

What we say here ate the truths. It is a fact that this govt is always talking abt GDP, millions salary and more money! It is always about money. Once you leave the house all kinds of money will be squeezed from citizens. If u go to any govt dept ie HDB or ICA sure kena spend money!

Last time we used to have 100 pages of passport at a certain price with 10 yrs validity. Now it's 50 pages with 5 yrs validity! Indirectly they increase the price of passport after giving some crap excuse that it's to prevent counterfeit or used by terrorists etc. KNN! U want to make money say so!

There are so many daily life examples to quote! This govt really sucks big time!

Most of our opposition are also quite silly to fight for non citizens death row prisoners or dolphins ! Lol! They shld be looking or rather exploit such money issues faced by citizens instead if they want to get elected! In fact most of us don't bother about freedom of press or speech etc. We just wish that the govt don't keep sucking our money only! They fight for our CPF money return to us.

Sometimes, I feel that the opposition also quite stupid not knowing how we got to struggle and make ends meet when the govt keep squeezing our money!

Gintai;

thank You very much for your interaction.

Indeed, both the Regime and the Oppositions are very disappointing. Now that Workers Party had went along with the Pay Revision, things are quite clear. All our politicians are not much different from one another.

Me has been a long time commenter at My Singapore News(Blogsite) by Redbean aka Chua Chin Leng, Nofearsingapore(Blogsite) by Dr Huang and Singapore Notes(Blogsite) by Tatler. Do goes to most other socio-political blogs too and now quite fascinated by your blog using Chinese(writing).

Gintai;
me does wishes to have You at the Above-mentioned Blogs for friendly discussions.
