Did He Pay With His Heart?

Was his heart hijacked in the $8 Surgery?

I understand that a CABG (coronary artery bypass graft) is a procedure where a blood vessel is taken from the chest, leg or arm and used to bypass a narrowed or blocked coronary artery to increase the blood flow to a person's heart muscle. Hence, preventing a heart attack.

Remember the ex-Health Minister who is the current Minister of National Development of Singapore who made famous his claim of only paying $8 for for his CABG surgery and first class hospital stay? Did the surgical team do more than a CABG? Could they have added a heart transplant as well? Could they have taken away his caring compassionate heart and replaced it with something heartless? A mechanical pump?

Based on his performance after the CABG surgery, I feel something a amiss. He now "Kong Wei Bo Liong Sim" = "Speaks without heart, without conscience, without compassion"

What does it take for a man to use selected statistics to pull wool over the eyes of its citizens? I am referring to Khaw Boon Wan's latest claim: "National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan said on Wednesday night that HDB flats have been the same size for the past 15 years, and are not shrinking, contrary to popular belief." [Link] I believe the popular belief will find this claim hard to believe!

Silly as it may seem, since they lost part of their salary after the Ministerial Salary COI (which Mercer earned $860,000.00?), ministers in Singapore have been coming up with claims that are pretty wild. I still cannot get over the hype, the extravagant publicity of
  • A family with an income of $1,000 can afford to purchase a HDB flat
  • Neither do I believe that the poor, who pays GST ends up richer with GST Rebates. However, I do believe the rich gets richer since the Estate Duty Act was abolished.
So when the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance and Manpower Tharman Shanmugaratnam sang the song of "take further steps in the next five years to build an inclusive society" [Link], I had to check my heart rate and get my *GTN ready! For how many more years do we have to bear the crap of such motherhood statement? Or is it motherfook statement? Remember the "Staying Together Moving Ahead' bull? [Link]

Since the promise made in 2006, we have fragmented more than we have been inclusive. The divide is is more than between
  • the poor (the average folks) and the rich (especially the ministers & their elite kakies)
  • the PAP government and the citizens
  • the locals and the immigrants
  • the conmen (as in those who try to pull wool over the eyes of innocent) and the conned
It is not healthy for Singapore.

The divide is causing many to sing

If only, our leaders can treat us as humans and not digits for GDP growth.
If only, they can treat us with respect instead of contempt.
If only, they have the courage to admit
that they are profiteering from the sale of HDB flats
instead of saying it is a "subsidy"
If only . . .

Do not miss this 4-minute that reflects much on what we are going through.
"We have lost the way. . .
Greed has poisoned men's souls . . .
We think too much, we feel too little . . .
More than cleverness, we need kindness, gentleness . . .
System that makes man torture and imprison innocent people . . .
Don't give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you; enslave you; who regiment your lives; tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel; who drill you; tire you; treat you like cattle; who use you as cannon fodder.
Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men,
machine men with machine minds and machine hearts . . .
They lied. They did not fulfill their promise . . . "

Still breathing,

  3. Not time for Mr Fish to go, he is far too resilient, still has plenty of zest.
He and all his passionate fellow bloggers deserve to see a major change for the better...half the PAP buggers voted out in 2016, father and son taking a dive together from Top of Marina Bay Sands...before 2016 will be ideal, Khaw's 8$ heart bypass sets him on a world record of 8 beats per second with a permanent grin to show for it.

  8. If our Govt is indeed profiteering from the sale of public flats and yet still insists they are subsidising us, what does this say about our PAP leaders especially LKY?

That they are no better than a recalcitrant liar, a term which they forgotten that they did not hesitate to use on CSJ on some petty taxi fare or postage claims ?

Are you serious ? After all these years, you still have doubt whether they are profiteering ?

Do you think as a master, your obedient and tameful dog will do anything if they are not given permission to do so ? don't you put a lease on your dog to control it from biting others ?

  14. Did Minister Khaw Boon Wan have a heart in the first place?

    2007:

In interview with SPH reporter, Minister Khaw suggested packing our old folks off to JB Nursing Homes. Land + Labour are cheaper in JB/Batam and yet near enough to return to Singapore in a medical emergency.

When the public backlash came, Mr Khaw said he was tired at the time when the reporter cornered him for interview comments.

    2009:
Minister Khaw visited a newly completed JB nursing home and elaborated upon it in Parliament.

Minister Khaw said that statistics of Singapore Nursing Homes show that family visits are mostly on weekends. He suggested that bus charters could be operated on weekends to ferry the parents/grandkids to JB Nursing Homes and the family can do some shopping and eating in JB City Centre after visiting the old folks.

Again, when the public backlash came, he explained that he was merely providing "another option".

The next day, even the Heavens were pissed - Lightning struck the Merlion statue!

  16. The comments I receive keeps me going. In gratitude, I continue to post what comes to my mind, what touches my heart.

SG Girl, Gintai, Patriot, Seah Chiang Nee of Littlespeck.com and many others have been inspiring and keep me up to speed. I sincerely appreciate your kind support and encouragement.

To the question asked of my nationality, I am a Singaporean, born a British subject due to SIngapore being colonised; bred partially a Malaysian because of the Merger of '63-'65 and live on the good earth of Singapore since 1951. Chances are I'll die on the same good earth (hopefully without the bad government) and will be fed to the fish to keep the environment green ;)

Meanwhile, I shall be breathing in, breathing out, mindful of what is happening and doing what it takes to tell it like it is.

Thank you all for your kindness and concern.

    Cheerfully breathing,

  17. Text of Speech from the movie;
    "The Great Dictator"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IvPIWzQcUY

Hynkel: I'm sorry, but I don't want to be an Emperor - that's not my business.

I don't want to rule or conquer anyone.
I should like to help everyone, if possible -- Jew, gentile, black man, white.

We all want to help one another; human beings are like that.
We want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery.
We don't want to hate and despise one another.
In this world there's room for everyone and the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone.

The way of life can be free and beautiful.

But we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate,
has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed.

We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in.
Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want.
Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind.

We think too much and feel too little.
More than machinery, we need humanity.
More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness.
Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.

The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together.
The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men,
cries out for universal brotherhood for the unity of us all.
Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women, and little children,
victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people.

To those who can hear me I say, "Do not despair."
The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed,
the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress.

    The hate of men will pass and dictators die;
and the power they took from the people will return to the people and so long as men die, liberty will never perish.

Soldiers: Don't give yourselves to brutes,
    men who despise you,
    enslave you,
    who regiment your lives,
    tell you what to do,
what to think and what to feel; who drill you,
    diet you,
    treat you like cattle,
    use you as cannon fodder.

Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men,
machine men, with machine minds and machine hearts!
    You are not machines!
    You are not cattle!
    You are men!
You have the love of humanity in your hearts.
    You don't hate;
    only the unloved hate,
    the unloved and the unnatural.

Soldiers: Don't fight for slavery! Fight for liberty!
In the seventeenth chapter of Saint Luke it is written, "the kingdom of God is within man" -- not one man,
    nor a group of men,
    but in all men,
    in you,
you the people have the power,
    the power to create machines,
    the power to create happiness.
You the people have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.

Then, in the name of democracy, let us use that power!
    Let us all unite!!
Let us fight for a new world,
a decent world that will give men a chance to work,
that will give you the future and old age a security.

By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power,
    but they lie!
They do not fulfill their promise; they never will.
    Dictators free themselves,
    but they enslave the people!!

Now, let us fight to fulfill that promise!!
Let us fight to free the world,
to do away with national barriers, to do away with greed,
    with hate and intolerance.

Let us fight for a world of reason,
a world where science and progress will lead to all men's happiness.

Soldiers: In the name of democracy, let us all unite!!!

  18. Dear Mr Fish;

me born in the same year as You in 1951, such that we witnessed the the changes over the decades.

Sadly, much of the younger generation did not have the opportunity to experience the happy good old days. They are brought up doctrinated and brainwashed, engineered right from the very beginning when Sin was given Independence.

Much damage has been caused and done beyond repair AND our Rulers are as smug, arrogant and adamant as ever.

Me am thankful to Bloggers like You and the many others for championing the sufferers of the warped policies over the years. It is indeed heartening to have fellow citizens like You. Like dedicated warriors, many are prepared to sacrifice and face consequences on behalf of the MASSES.

Like to thank You here once again, take good care!
