"Lian Lian How" 莲莲好!

Looks like the money I paid for the books I bought is well spent. "Democratically Speaking", I'm delighted that SDP and Chee Soon Juan has decided to do the sensible - to celebrate 莲莲好! [Link]

Some may condemn while others may praise CSJ and SDP for past week's political drama. Having written what I wrote on Chee Soon Juan, I'm just glad that good sense prevails. Though I would not say the same for RP's Kenneth Jeyaratnam and SDA's Desmond Teo.

I'd love to see SDP continue to walk the ground and do the prep work for 2016 in Holland/Bukit Timah and Tanjong Pagar GRCs. The thrill of seeing Chee Soon Juan and his team winning Tanjong Pagar GRC in 2016 will be priceless! Then again, what the Elections Department will do to Tanjong Pagar after Lee Kuan Yew retires is que sera sera.

As much as Kenneth Jeyaratnam and Desmond Lim wish to be known as the Spoilers of 2013  causing split votes for the opposition, I still look forward to celebrate Chinese New Year with 莲莲好!

Since GE 2011 we have:
  • AIMgate,
  • PalmerGate
  • More breakdowns in MRT service
  • Bus workers strike
  • Less breathing space (continuing import of foreigners with inadequate infrastructure)
  • Giving $1.1billion of tax payers money to profit making bus companies
  • New ministers lamenting that it is not a 'privilege' but a 'sacrifice' of lucrative income and family time to be a minister in Singapore [Tan Chuan-Jin Link] [FU Grace Link]
  • a PM who said "sorry" but neither repenting nor change policies that are detrimental to the average Singaporeans
  • A "Silver Tsunami" not caused by greying Singaporeans but by the import of parents and grandparents of foreigners who come here to work.
As much as local concerns like the Rivervale Plaza and lack of childcare centers in Punggol East will affect the voting, I'm sure that national issues listed above will have a negative impact on PAP's Dr Chopsticks!

Many compare the "qualifications' of Li Lian and Dr Chopsticks. Some, especially those in PAP figure that Dr Chopsticks with his elitist titles and positions [Link] can serve East Punggolites better. I'm not too sure. Where values are concerned, is it not a lack of faith, integrity, honour and self-respect to forsake older loyal party members and put a 3-week-old newbie party member in such a spotlight? Just what would PAP's 'ministerial material' Ong Yee Khun [Link] think and feel? Betrayed? Or relieved that he will not have to lose again?

What do you think?

Or do you hear the people sing? [Link]

I'm sure many like me are glad that SDP finally came back to their senses by pulling out of the race, in fact, I think SDP should not have even thought of contesting in the first place, most can see that multi-cornered fights will only hand victory to PAP and funny that brilliant people in SDP can't? If they went ahead and lost terribly and also caused WP to lose, it will put good candidates like Vincent or Paul in bad light, destroying their political careers. I hope SDP will succeed in 2016 Election as I really look forward to seeing Vincent W., Paul T. and Dr Chee in Parliament.

SDP pulling out was one piece of good news for many people. I am not a SDP supporter, but I believe this augurs well for the SDP going forward towards 2016.

The perennial argument that the PAP candidates can serve their constituencies better, with the lop-sided backing of the PAP Government, needs no reminding, but that argument does not always bring the desired result, especially if voters are as discerning and of the quality of Hougang and Aljunied GRC - willing to sacrifice all and take the risk of fighting for what they believe in. Never underestimate the resolve of people in the Eastern bloc of Singapore.

It may be a tough battle for the WP and I wish them good luck.

Dr Chopsticks already got 20 portfolios. Do you think he will have the time to serve the residents of Punggol with total dedication and full commitment? I doubt so unless he's a superman!

Lol! If Dr chopsticks lwere to ose his deposit, that will be the mother of all historical embarrassment! Papies are clearly losing support and power! WP is gaining more clout and power base! We shall see. Very exciting days ahead!

VeryNery smart tactical move by SDP which put the papies off guard and gain the support of WP supportors. In total, it's a win-win for SDP and WP.

The list of the doctor's 21 portfolios leaves out two very important ones - he is also a father and a husband.

If he gets voted in, he'll have to spread himself 24 ways.

Not really. Should not have started that antic in the first place.

Damage done to self and party.

Good damage control though, albeit after being overruled by CEC.

"head I win, tail you lose" is a slap on the face of PAP & if not for the multi corner fight, a BE is called so swiftly & fast?! of cuz in addition to the AimGATE affair to diffuse the continuing of happenings & to divert e attention thereof BE BUT SDP DID A GOOD JOB to firstly 'warrant' of attention,& secondly, to pull out AND already doing a deal of help to WP, notwithstanding the 'clowns' of the other 2 parties still wanting to heat on the BE,politics is about game playing & only with deeper thoughts came the swift of stroke! believe when you are in politics & talking about 'politic'is totally different stroke of writing and to CSJ & TEAM, e tactical move have pay off handsomely! & now, is the PR angle and knowing how and what to answer to the "shit media", e future looks bright for them especially after the passing of LKY, & who is to say "right or wrong" afterall, keyboard warriors are not walking the talk, I salute the Team(SDP) yes, they have already 'won' a BE even without having to campaign, THINK DEEPER or O YES, SG PPLE are not after all deep thinker ya> except and for e compliment of Mr Fish, i was and once a campaigner of sort for the Sg island and pple but now have silent retreat to a "holier ground" yet, with each passing of days, months & generations, LKY did not & have not pass away and with the deteriorating of Sg condition, we REALLY NEED a few good men to stand on and fight, so, bloggers, talk is cheap, i know cuz m one BUT ARE YOU ALL READY TO TAKE THE REGIME ON LIKE CHEE, AND SDP, GO TO JAIL OF SORT AND TO THE HONEST BONE, HE PAID A PRICE AND IF HE TALKS 'NONSENSE' LET IT BE, BUT RESPECT HIM!

I believe it was a tactical move by sdp.

In 1 single stroke, sdp put sda and spp in bad light for ignoring public sentiments and at the same time win wp supporters' hearts in future elections. At the same time, a third effect is to sway opp voter towards wp by promoting consolidstion in opposition voting pattern. Great stategy !!!!

The Result of the impending Punggol By Election will be indicative of the average Singaporean satisfaction with the Local Political Status Quo.

There are many issues that cropped up soon after the 2011 GE. As mentioned by Redbean, there were Palmergate and the much more serious Aimgate that not only resulted in the squabble between the Rulers and Workers Party over TC Function and System, it also affects all that live in Public Housing.

The 2011 GE had resulted in the removal of some top PAP
Cabinet Members. Amongst them were heavy weights DPM Wong Kan Seng, MND Minister Mah Boh Tan, Foreign Minister George Yeo, Minister Lim Hwee Hua and few MPs.

A GRC, Aljunied, also fell into the Hand of WP in the 201 GE and in the Subsequent BE at Hougang, WP retains the Seat.
All the Removal of Ministers and the Loss of the Aljunied GRC are due to the PAP POLICIES implemented around the Last 2 Decades or so.

The PAP Policies had caused the Native Singaporeans to live with much challenges as cost of living keep rising. Essentials such as housing(property), food and utilities were not spared.

Locals were and are also losing jobs to the many foreigners imported to fill up the vacancies. And the incomes of the Local either remain stagnant or worse, remain the same with their job scope and working hours extended.

Just before the 2011 GE, sensing the rising dissatisfaction, PM Lee S L apologized for the missteps in policy implementations and promised to make changes. That, however did not make Aljunied Voters believed in him and WP Low Thia Khiang and his team took over since then.

Most Singaporeans then, since GE 2011, were hoping for Government Policies to be people friendly after the PM's Apology. But, alas things got from bad to worse after the GE. Subsequently, there was a BE in Hougang SMC and WP retains it. It showed that the dissatisfaction with the Government has not changed at Hougang and may i say Island wide.

How about the Voters at Punggol East? The Result of the By Election there will tell us.

To the voters of Ponggol East:

This is the moment.
This is your time.
This is the one and only opportunity
This is the line that you must cross.

To send a very clear, distinct message to the PAP about what you do not like.

Your rights will remain.
Your citizenship remains
Your homes remain
Your jobs remain
Your water supply remains

Stand up for your rights.

All of Singapore will be watching you... it is your moment.

Vote with the 3 year time frame in mind.

SDA said that Desmond Lim is armed to make a difference and cause potential ripples on the grounds of Punggol East.

Hahaha, with his girth, I think I have to believe them. Not only will Desmond cause potential ripples, maybe a tsunami if he jumps into Punggol River.

By right, with multiple corner fight, PAP should win with hands down. However, with their popularity lower than before GE, I think Dr Chopsticks would be lucky to win 40% of the vote. At the end I predict Li Lian will win by small margin of 42% with KJ getting 16% and Desmond getting 2% with his pants down. No?

Campaign Slogans for the arsehole doctor;

"We'll bend over backwards for you."

"This is not the End, butt a new beginning"

"Don't sit down I'll be right with you."

Thes PAP arseholes keep implying that only they can do work for PE residents. Did they not realise that they couldn't and didn't do anything when the renovations to Rivervale Plaza stalled ? Isnt this Gong Lan Cheow Wei ? Or is it Dr Arsehole talking Kar Chng wei ?

PAP MIW Joke
--------------
Q: Doctor. Do you find it difficult to make the adjustment from being a doctor to being a PAP politician?

A: No, not really. My medical expertise is working ON arse holes.
Being a PAP politician requires me to work closely with my PAP colleagues.

The work is still the same. Lots of face time with Arse Holes.

That'll be better enough....Tanjong Pagar is much closer to Holland-BT and Buona Vista is used to be under it and SDP has been eyeing Orchard as well......
Perfect strategy and I hope the team is very chemistrical....As follows...

-Dr Chee Soon Juan(Team Leader)
-Jaslyn Go Hui Leng
-Dr James Gomez
-Dr Juwita bte Rahmat
-Dr Paul Ananth Tambyah

IMAGINE!!!4 doctors and 1 devoted heartlander who is passionative about Chinatown...2 Chinese,1 Eurasian,1 Malay and 1 Indian...3 men and 2 women....

A perfect combination regardless of merit, race, gender, ability and also position may lead SDP to follow WP's footsteps of winning AGAINST the Kee Chiu gang, which is consists of himself, the Senior Minister of State, the last minute doctoral candidate and 2 newbies, believing to be another newbie and probably a Malay...

What about AMK???Besides,SPP's been still in favour of Bishan as it is much closer to Potong Pasir...SDP must get it due to national issues thus hammering down the PM...
