When Saying Sorry Means Nought

Below in italic is extracted from Yahoo - a "must read" [Link]

"If we didn't get it right, I'm sorry. But we will try better the next time."

It was an apology that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong saw fit to repeat twice on Tuesday during the People's Action Party (PAP) first lunchtime rally at Boat Quay next to UOB Plaza.

PM Lee acknowledged some of the government's initiatives have resulted in "side effects", such as problem gambling among Singaporeans due to the opening of the Integrated Resorts.

He also cited the congestion in public transport because of the increased intake in foreigners.
"These are real problems, we will tackle them.  But I hope you will understand when these problems vex you or disturb you or upset your lives, please bear with us, we are trying our best on your behalf," said PM Lee to a crowd of about a thousand.

The secretary-general of the PAP continued, "And if we didn't quite get it right, I'm sorry but we will try better the next time."

Pushing on with a message he had for voters on Monday, PM Lee also admitted the government had made two other high-profile errors.

"We made a mistake when we let Mas Selamat run away. We made a mistake when Orchard Road got flooded," he said.

"No government is perfect… we will make mistakes. But when it happens we should acknowledge it, we should apologise, take responsibility, put things right. If we are to discipline somebody, we will do that, and we must learn from the lessons and never make the same mistake again," said PM Lee.

Like father like son! They never mean what they say. The never say what they mean. They are mean and untrustworthy. Simple as that!

To say sorry then for the sad state of affairs they created and to put up the White Paper on Population now to fook us and our descendants up is simply beyond comprehension! Are they so deranged that reality has escaped them? Or have they given up on Singapore to create mayhem just so to enhance their well-being?

Why put up a White Paper to have 7 million population to be discussed in parliament and then to mitigate the impact by saying it's only the worse case scenario?

Since PAP can no longer dazzle us with their brilliance, are they trying to confuse us with their crap? If this White PAPer ain't crap, I don't know what is.

Let's see if the crap will hit the celing in parliament tomorrow.

Meanwhile, please pay mindful attention to Dr Poh Soo Kai's speech on 2nd February 2013, the 50th Anniversary of Operation Cold Store.

Please note that I have edited the video so that the complete speech by Dr Poh continued in English instead of being translated intermittently between paragraphs. If the quality of the video is not up to your expectation, please pardon me as I was only using a smart phone (too smart for me) to record the event.

  2. As a 12 year old boy in 1963, me got to see many young men and women fleeing for safety to avoid detention at Koh Sek Lim Road, in the Old Village where me is born and grew up to about 20 year old when we were resettled.

Those that fled have never been seen since then.

Can You imagine the pain and suffering of the Affected Families, their neighbours and friends?

Me cannot forget neither can forgive.

  4. Patriot,

Hundreds who at Hong Lim Park on 2 Feb 2013 are elders in their 70's and 80's.

The "I Remember" Operation Cold Store event at Hong Lim is a Reunion of bravehearts who fought for what they believed and paid a price so dear.

It is through events such as this that younger Singaporeans can learn of the 'real truths" instead of self-glorifying "hard truths"

The kind consideration for the elders by the organiser Function8 to provide chairs at the event warms my heart. It shows sincerity, care and respect.

So unlike the power that is.

Me notes with sadness that the younger generation of Post 65 are indoctrinated, the moment they were, are sent into the PAP Kindergartens.
Ever since then, about 70s onward, few of the younger generations know about the political plays as well as alterations done to the History of Singapore. And its' relations to Malaya/Malaysia and Indonesia(Komfrontasi/Comfrontasy). Most are familiar with the Adoration of Lee Kuan Yew for Suharto, the Corrupted and Ousted Late Ex-President of Indonesia. Btw, Suharto was the lndonesian President that banned the Use of the Chinese Language and Chinese Culture in Indonesia.

      Fish:
Me like to say here that my observation and from hearsays lead me to say that most Singaporeans below 45 year have little or no interest in the History of Sg; much less its political background. They are inculcated to material pursuits. Their apathy to nationhood is as good as absent. Only now that their futures are threatened and at stake that there is a little awakening. Sad and disappointed to note.
Like to say me has children over
thirty in age and talking to them and their peers led to my adsertion.

In Blogoland, the Social Political Netizens invariably are also mostly beyond their forties. There were yoinger ones, however, most did not last.

Me was all along for the Merger of Singapore with Malaysia. Hopefully I can see it happens again before I kick the bucket.
And that it(Merger) will be a permanent one.

    Dear Fish.
    Interesting point.
    The audience got the chairs.
The speaker & translator had to stand.

Now if this was a PAP function...
maybe the audience will be standing and the PAPigs will be sitting.

Now, who do you think is more likely to "serve" Singaporeans?

  6. For me this whitepaper on population is just one big bloody wayang by the miw.

For the past 10 years or so without this whitepaper, the miw has already allowed more than 1 millions of foreigners into our country. The negative effects have been felt in transportation, education, hospitalisation, housing, etcs.

Now with this whitepaper, they are just going to carry on doing the same old things allover again in the next 20 years by bring in another 2 millions of foreigners.

Without solving the existing issues which came about from the flooding of 1 million foreigners here in the past 10 years, it is cleared for all too see that the existing issues with transportation, transportation, education, hospitalisation, housing, etcs will remain and also magnified in the years to come.

I dare the miw to call for GE now. Bring it on. pinky, I dare you!

  7. Obviously the MIW are in complete damage control mode over the white paper wayang.

But, sad to say, they have failed miserably by contradicting each other.

First, minister Khaw said the 6.9 million 'is a worst case scenario'.

Next, another MIW said the 6.9 million 'is only a target'

Yet just yesterday, another minister said the 6.9 million 'is not a target but a projection'

In trying to explain the farce, they are tripping over each other and creating more uncertainty as to what they are trying to say.

If the MIWs themselves do not know what the white paper is trying to do or achieve, how can they be in a position to explain and convince ordinary Singaporeans to accept it's contents.

  8. The fact that they used 6.9 million instead of 7 millions already tell you that it is meant to screw the citizens.

Why .9 ? because it is marketing gimmick to make your mind naturally round down to integer which is 6 million.

Did anyone notice why those clown did not mention why they use 6.9 but not 7 millions ?

    Why not 6.1 ? why not 6.5 ?

the government is a corporation after all , using marketing trick , as long as they can get away with it.

they can fool people some of the time but not all of the time.

  12. Once all the fees are taken out, the school sends you a check for the remaining amount.
While new banking regulations have brought this amount down to 30% in some areas,
this is still some of the highest interest debt that a person can take on. There are no results
to be placed in any form, and therefore the loan agreement is for 24
hours. The entire process of obtaining the loan is very simple.
