Truth or Contortion

I often tell my friends and relatives, "What is important to you may not be important to me and what is important to me may not be imported to you." As much as we love each other, the perception of one may not be what is perceived by the other.

I appreciate the numerous comments in my previous post [Link] and in TOC [Link].

Some commented that I wrote out of context while others asked me to go get laid. In whatever context, regardless of active NS vs Reservist or Citizens vs PRs, are males age 30 and above good enough for national service? If yes, why is the Prime Minister reluctant to be their Platoon Commander? If no, why are so many over 30 Singaporean males still serving?

In response to those who asked me to go get laid (screwed?), I must admit that I am getting laid. Here are some examples:
  • To have my contribution as a NSman and reservist taken for granted.
  • To have my hard earned money taken from me by CPF since I started working more than 40 years ago and not having the freedom to use it after my retirement. Why I was good enough to manage my money (without debt) to support and bring up my children but not good enough to manage it during my retirement is beyond me. Is my CPF mine? [Link]
  • To realise that "We the citizens of Singapore pledge ourselves as one united people regardless of race, language or religion to build a democratic society based on justice and equality" is nothing but an aspiration.
  • As a Singaporean seeing the video of 28 year old Ms Zhang Yuanyuan of China picking a Blue Singapore NRIC followed by “repaying the motherland is her greatest wish!” [Link] makes me feel like Singapore got laid.
As much as Singaporeans may be upset by this video of Zhang Yuanyuan showing loyalty to her motherland, I'm sure many Singaporeans are loyal to their own motherland, Singapore because they sacrifice years of their precious time doing active and reservist training (though not voluntary) for motherland.

Or has our loyalty been eroded by leaders who continues to make sure that we keep getting laid as above?

Those who love me have advised me to take down my previous post [Link]. They are worried that the comments posted by some sound ballistic, defamatory and threatening and I may end up in trouble. They are afraid that I may be accused by the mighty MHA or ISA of inciting violence or whatever. If I end up in the slammer (or worse) for writing what I write, then I have to accept that to every life a little rain must fall.

With hand touching my damaged heart, I write to get the frustration off my chest. To let the insensitive, high and mighty know that there are little guys out there. The little guys, the non-elite Ali, Ah Seng, Rajoo and Joe who are loyal and have done much for their motherland, Singapore. The little guys who are getting disillusioned and disenchanted with the daily grind that gets them working harder and getting poorer! It's tough seeing the quality of life deteriorating everyday.

To let the insensitive, high and mighty know that it's not nice to rub us the wrong way with callous comments.

If the Chinese leaders are proud of Ms Zhang Yuanyuan., why can't the Singapore leaders be proud of the thousands of NSmen who sacrifice much more for Singapore than what Ms Zhang Yuanyuan did for China?

My truth is not your truth until you find it to be true.
Once the truth is with you, no one, nothing can take it away from you.

Dear Feed Me To The Fish,
I have just come across your blog recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you for your efforts and hope to see more articles from you. In fact, I am inspired by you to start my own blog. I will be following your blog from my account.

Sadly, non-economic contributions are consistently undervalued. The sacrifices of NSmen and the loyalty of Singaporeans unfortunately cannot be measured in currencies recognised by some people.

But there are others who do. For example, your blog brings forth warmth and support and inspires others. This is far more valuable than monetary returns, right?

Mr. Fish,

What you have is burning passion. This is something that direly lacking in PAP. There is no heart in PAP and the recent events reveal that their minds are not too bright either. Their ideas are as stale as dead fishes (sorry for the pun). Hopefully, those with hearts will win some seats in the upcoming elections so that we don't continue to get screwed.

You're not the only one getting screwed. As long as one is holding a pink IC, one is screwed. For life.

Thanks for speaking out Fish. I do not doubt you have good intentions.

I am glad you allowed those nasty comments to be posted.
It serves to constantly remind many of us the reality of what we face in Spore....that it is ok to be oblivious to the serious shortcomings of the PAP and its leaders so long as one is enjoying a high exchange rate to take holidays and have enough to purchase all the material goods.

Very soon, those who are on the lower end of the wealth spectrum will be oblivious to the muggings, kidnappings, burglaries, extortions, etc, carried out on those enjoying the wealth. After all why bother if it does not affect you, right ?

Most importantly, should it ever come to the crunch, those on the lower end of the wealth spectrum make it a point to look out for each other.....only !

Mr Fish,

The articles on Ms Zhang Yuanyuan at Temasick Review have been removed. I guess your article have strike some nerves.

I don't think ALL S'poreans (since no poster is asked to show pink IC be4 being allowed to post)r upset with Zhang Yuanyuan. She's still a China national after all. Great tt she shows loyalty to China. Pity S'poreans (or at least those who claim to be S'poreans on the Net) don't have same pride in our little red dot.. u may have a damaged heart but no need to damage yr country's reputation, K?

Damaged heart but not damaged brain....like those who suck too many PAP bananas. Got it ?

For your f..king info I have damaged heart as well.....heart broken for a long time to see my country hijacked by the famiLee and stooges.

@xingrencha,

it's amazing that we have people like you who equate PAP to Singapore. Hello , you can be proud of the country but you don't have to agree with the people in power ?! It's simplistic and condescending statements like yours that rile me up. I don't think anyone's upset with Zhang Yuan Yuan - it's the policymakers who put Singaporean males below PRs/FTs that are we are upset abt. So pls grow a brain b4 posting. And again putting down an ineffective PM does not equate to putting down your own country. If I sound rude, it's becos you deserve it considering your rudeness here to all S'poreans reading this...

eh xingrencha,
try to use your brains if it's not damaged badly,K?

I agree with anonymous @ 6.43am
and by your logic will you also say that the ordinary Myanmar citizens have damaged their country's reputation when they protested against the military junta ?
or the American citizens have damaged their country's reputation when they openly cursed and condemned G. Bush's administration for involving the USA in the Iraq war ?
and how about those ordinary citizens under the despotic regime of Mugabe and Kim ? Ain't it the truth these despots are trusted friends of the PAP regime ?
So who has actually hurt Spore's reputation with the international community ? I have not even begun to talk about the compliant judiciary, media, parliament, president, nepotism, non accountability, etc etc.

Since Mr Fishy has soooo many fans, it's useless talking to people who only see what they want to see... birds of a feather flock together, whatever the weather!

anonymous, marksmen etc are u real? I am!!

Same anonymous at 6:43 am says

@xingrencha

pls don't try to sound smart... doesn't work here...If you still don't get it that criticising an ineffective PM is not the same as criticising your country, pls don't waste time here....Try and get a blog readership based on your own analytical skills (if any, lol)instead of trying to scam off readers from Fish. I think marksman has spelt it out for you with v obvious examples. You should thank him for his effort. I thought he was very patient spelling it out in such detail. And if u still don't get it, pls spare us from yr comments ... Bye ... shoo... go away ....

I am sick of seeing people like XingRenCha, who do not know how to engage in meaning debates but instead like to sprout nonsense when being challenged.

Step Forward Mr Fish. Some outstanding points that have been in your blog. We need more people to make a difference and to bring real change to the Singapore's political landscape.

Join the opposition or run for the next GE.

Hi Fish

Just to let you know that I enjoyed your blog. Keep it up. As somebody already said, you wrote with passion and a heart. These 2 commodities are very rare these days in Singapore.

Well done.

Umm. Getting laid is not the same as getting screwed. In this case, FMTTF, you're getting screwed, left right and center.
