With LKY, Who Needs COI?

I read Wong Kan Seng's COI findings of the Mas Selamat Kasturi saga at
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/annex/ms-wongkanseng.pdf
and the Executive Summary at http://www.channelnewsasia.com/annex/ms-summary.pdf

I believe for every drop of rain that falls a flower grows
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night a candle glows
And I believe for every one who goes astray someone will come to show the way
I believe yes I believe
I believe above the storm the smallest prayer will still be heard
I believe that someone in the great somewhere hears every word
Every time I hear a new born baby cry or touch a leaf or see the sky
Then I know why I believe
Sung by Glen Campbell

They had the power. They had the authority. That's why they sat in the Committee of Inquiry. After such a long wait, an ex-judge, ex-police commissioner and a current director of MHA tell us through the Minister of Home Affairs that they believe! After so much fact gathering, they believe that Mas Selamat this, they believe Mas Selamat that . . . . . I prefer Glen Campbell's version better!

Then I read below from CNA here.

MP Inderjit Singh, Ang Mo Kio GRC, asked: "Can I ask who audits ISD (Internal Security Department)? Do they audit themselves and therefore create the weaknesses within the system?"

In reply, Mr Wong pointed out that as with all systems, once they are operated by humans, the systems can only be as good as the people who operate them.

He said: "We can have all the systems in place. But if the people don't follow them, I think some day, something will happen."

However, the home affairs minister assured the MPs that all the lapses identified in the Mas Selamat case have been dealt with, and it is unlikely that the same lapses will recur.

"Audits will be in place, not just by ISD, but also by the Prisons Department. Every year, they will do a regular audit of the place and I'm sure for the senior management in the ISD, they will also do regular audits by a separate group of people outside the Whitley Road Detention Centre," he said.

Mr Wong also spent some time addressing rumours that have been circulating around.

Opposition MP Low Thia Khiang asked if there was any truth to a rumour that Mas Selamat died during detention and that the government has simply staged the escape as a cover-up.

"Instead of telling me about this groundless speculation, may I ask Mr Low if he believes that Mas Selamat has died?"

"No, I don't," answered Mr Low, which put an end to the question.

While he acknowledged complacency in the operations of the detention centre, Mr Wong dismissed suggestions that his ministry had been complacent in supervising its departments.

He said: "Within individual units, there could be some slackening in some ways. I can't guarantee that would not happen because in any human organisation, there would be human weaknesses displayed and unfortunately, things do happen that we don't want to see."

MP Halimah Yacob, Jurong GRC, said: "There are good things coming out of it. We now know that we just cannot be complacent... we have to be vigilant all the time."

I am so much wiser after this COI report and Wong Kan Seng's speech.

I am wise to the fact that:-
  • LKY knew everything before even the COI became COI.

  • the ones most guilty in Mas' escape are Mr Toilet, Mr Ungrilled Window and Mr Perimeter Fencing.

  • detainees in WRDC has more privacy than me when I was in NS. We did not have the luxury of having urinals within cubicles.

  • 7 rolls of toilet rolls can break the fall of a limp man. How high was was Mas jumping from anyway? Amusing!

  • attack is the best form of defence (exchanges of Inderjeet Singh, Low Thia Kiang and Wong Kan Seng is so hilariously audacious!) Question be answered by question? So clever :)

  • there will always be apple polishers who knows no shame in stating the obvious and parroting the parrot who parroted PAPa. The word "Complacency" has become a new currency since LKY said it on 21 April 2008 in Straits Times. Read here and here.

  • we Singaporeans are living in a "golden period" under a golden rule. He who has the "power and the gold" rules and the buck stops before ruler and/or his cronies get burn.

  • only some Gurkha guards, Special Duty Operatives and some poor souls in ISD will pay for this reckless wayang and"suggestions that his ministry had been complacent in supervising its departments" must be dismissed! How dare we blame the MHA for this complacency? Especially "in supervising its departments"
Let's see what's up with PM taking centre stage tomorrow?

And if the if it goes something like, "I thank Singaporean for their unity and effort . . . .Let's close ranks and do our best to recapture Mas . . . . let's give WKS a break . . .", I'll puke!

I hope no more pakat2 and wayang2.

Pakat pakat covering of Ministers' rear ends cheapens the integrity of the obscenely paid?

Then again, it's happened. What to do?

Hi provoker,

Thanks for visiting again.

Having watched their moves for so many years, you'd get use to their tricks!

Now the propaganda machines especially MSM are working overtime in damage control.

However, the damage is done.

Maybe, just maybe, this time people will remember: They sold their integrity for PAP. Yes, for Pay and Power!
